some questions i have:
1. ) Can i use a (super-cropped to the point you can only recognize the character if you're a superfan or saw the full image) fanart of a character as a brush demo photo or thumbnail, or would it fall under "uses copyrighted characters"?
2. ) Does making a brush based off of a downloaded brush I liked--but with various edits made to the settings--OR copying pen pressure curves from a downloaded brush i liked count as "based on an existing property" or "uses brushes or images for which another creator has the rights" ????
i just double-checked all the settings between the brush i initially started editing (via duplicating and adjusting and repeat). not only is my brush texture-less and tip-less there's also basically almost no resemblance except the vibe, but i *Worry* lol
i mean like yeah i could just keep them for private use, but i wanna upload them on assets + make backup files and keep them on a different cloud platform because i like them so much i want to essentially keep copies archived, and uploading on assets is the easiest way to make them available for me to get them back if ever i need to.

I think that even a part of fan art will be recognizable to fans, so I think it's better not to do anything that will lead to a violation report in the first place.
Even in this CLIP STUDIO ASK, all questions with derivative images attached have been deleted, even if there was a useful answer. I think the same will happen with CLIP STUDIO ASSETS if CELSYS determines that it is a violation.
If it is a demo image, even if it is not a character, for example, even if it is a fruit, flower, cube, or sphere, you will be able to understand what kind of brush it is.
Also, people who use CLIP STUDIO ASSETS are not coming to look at fan art, but to look for materials.
2.
If CELSYS determines that the brush contains the same brush tip, pressure curve, etc. as an existing brush, the brush will be deleted as a violation material.
I think it's fine if you are only using it yourself.
When publishing on CLIP STUDIO ASSETS, in [Notes on posting materials > Best Practices for Posting on Clip Studio Assets], it says, "Make All Materials Yourself."
Please read the entire contents here↓ for the exact contents. It will be useful to read all the policies and terms as well.

3.
CLIP STUDIO ASSETS is not a place for personal backups, so if you want to back up your files, export them from [Ξ] in the [Subtool Palette] and save them to a local location of your choice.
Please be aware that publishing materials that may be deemed a violation on CLIP STUDIO ASSETS may put you in a position where you may be penalized.
If you need a definitive answer to any of the above, please contact the official support desk.
Because this CLIP STUDIO ASK is a user forum, I don't think there is anyone who can write something definitive.
If you have any additions to make here, you can continue by clicking "Post an answer" below.
