I have the EX version but would like to install PRO too, just to check the real differences in features. Can this be done? If so, how?

2 days ago@くさっぽ I see, I worked under the assumption that having access to the PRO version comes automatically when one purchases the EX, not that I would need to buy the PRO as well :) But thank you for your time!

2 days agoThe EX version is a higher version of the PRO version and includes all of the functions. However, it does not double as a license.
In a common purchase pattern, if you upgrade from the PRO version and purchase the EX version for the difference in price, it is possible to have licenses for both.
(However, it is prohibited to resell a PRO license that is no longer functionally necessary.)- Japanese

2 days ago"Correction: The EX version license also doubles as a PRO version license."
That's what I hoped for, but since I started off with EX and skipped PRO, all I see in the Check/Change License window is the EX. I also hoped I could have both versions open as separate programs at once, like with Adobe programs, for example. That's impossible anyway, I suppose?
Out of curiosity, does switching between the versions as you described mess up the workspace, shortcuts, etc, or does it only hide the EX-only features?- English

2 days agoIf you have multiple devices, you can launch the app multiple times by changing devices, up to the number of times you have licensed, but it's a waste to use up your license just for a trial 💧
Even if you switch on the same device, the workspace basically doesn't change.
Shortcut keys for functions that are not available in the PRO version will automatically be hidden and will not function.
Auto actions that do not function due to differences in version, not grade, may stop with an error message stating "unknown command."- Japanese

2 days agoWell, I don't have another device, so since it doesn't have the option for both versions to be simply installed as two programs like I hoped, I'll just make do with the EX and hope I don't get something totally wrong :D
Thank you very much for all this info!- English

↑You can see a list of features by grade here.
It should be easy to see what you can and can't use.
The grades are PRO and EX.
With EX, you can use all of CLIP STUDIO PAINT's functions.
PRO has more limited functions than EX.
It's best not to be confused by the names.- Japanese

2 days ago@ミナト(トキハルト) Thank you, I started from that, but because some things aren't exactly as described and some details are omitted, I wanted to check the differences in reality, that's why I wanted to install the PRO version.

2 days agoWell, I might have been able to try out various things before buying the product.
The trial version that can be used before buying the product, which is limited to one device per person, is basically set to EX by default, so I think it would have been possible to switch to PRO.
After purchasing the product version, you can no longer use this version (if you have already purchased a monthly/yearly subscription or unlimited version, you will not be eligible).
You may have to wait until the irregularly held 30-day free trial version is available again.
https://www.clipstudio.net/en/news/202412/03_01/
This was in December last year.
It seems that those who have already used the trial version will be reset and will be able to use it.
It is different from the license you already have, so I think you can try it if this campaign is held again.
If you can't wait until then, I think the only way is to temporarily purchase a subscription for one device plan for the monthly plan and try it for a short period of time.
This is a waste of money.
Another option is to contact the official support directly.
Please let us know the specific differences you would like to know more about and ask.
It is unlikely that you will not receive a response at all, but if you have a large number of questions, they may not be very impressed.

2 days ago@ミナト(トキハルト) Oh, I didn't know about the free trial campaign, but honestly, it would be more hassle than it's worth anyway. But thanks a lot for the info!

2 days agoThe only real difference is story file menu. Then LT conversion and teamwork function. You also are limited to 24 frames for animation in pro. General functions are all the same. So if you are not seasoned animator, working with someone who uses team function or do not need a story section, then it makes no difference for you.
