I want to change line art to erased lines on a solid color, so that it creates a cutout effect and things can be visible underneath. How do I do this?

I drew some line art on top of a solid colored shape but now I want those same lines to be cut out within the shape, so I can take the whole thing and slap it on top of other art. Is there a way to convert the lineart to erased lines I guess?

Right-click the lineart layer, select "Selection from Layer -> Create selection", then go to the solid layer and press delete (on your keyboard, not the delete layer button). You could also create a layer mask on the solid layer once you've created your selection as well, which would make it easier to undo the erasing and get back to a solid shape later if you need.
