I've had CSP (EX in case that has any impact) for years and, several years ago, my downloaded assets all got wonky when I changed computers and had to transfer service. By wonky, I mean all my material palettes, brushes/subtools, etc. all vanished and I've never been able to fully put them all back in their places because it's overwhelming. They still show in my dashboard as assets I've downloaded but when I open a piece I'm working on, all the brush folders are empty except for the "stock" brushes/tools/assets that CSP comes with originally.
I tried manually putting brushes in their places via the actual workspace a while ago. It kinda worked... But the next time I opened the app, they were all gone again. I thought maybe I had dreamed the manual install previously so I did it again.
Then I opened the app again in a later session — gone again.
This keeps happening and I don't know why.
I do NOT want to manually re-add ALL my downloaded assets. What can I do? 🥲

14 days agoThe backup folder location mentioned here should be displayed as an address in File Explorer, but where is it located?
Can you copy and paste the address?
https://support.clip-studio.com/en-us/faq/articles/20190029#c973d0d9
Example:
C:\Users\Your PC Username\Documents\CELSYS\CLIPStudioPaintData
If it's located in the Windows Documents folder as shown above, you may lose settings or materials, or encounter other issues, unless you have OneDrive syncing enabled.
Please check the location first.
How did you previously migrate from your old PC to your new PC?
Which manual did you follow?
The official migration method is as follows:
https://support.clip-studio.com/en-us/faq/articles/20190153
There are two methods: saving settings to the cloud on your old PC and restoring them on your new PC, and replacing the CELSYS folder on your new PC using Windows Explorer.

14 days agoHi, うさぴょん ! Thanks for your quick answer.
So I went to my documents folder and there's nothing there. Or, there's no CELSYS folder. :O What do I do?
And I don't remember how I transferred things back then. I do recall having things backed up to the cloud/OneDrive, I think, but if I remember right, all I remember doing was downloading CSP on the new computer, booting it up, logging in, and downloading everything from the cloud I thought. I don't even remember what year I did all that in though so I can't even go back and look for my old backup. I don't have the old computer anymore either, I wrote over the OS with Linux so everything is gone from it.
In this case, what would you (or anyone else more knowledgeable than me) suggest I do? If you're not sure, that's okay, I can keep looking! 💖- English

When you opened the folder using this method, was it the Documents folder?
If so, please check your OneDrive folder.
Check if there is a CELSYS folder inside. If you find a CELSYS folder, please do the following.
If it is not there, there is another reason why it is not working.
If OneDrive is running, you should see an area on the far right of Windows where small resident application icons are lined up.
Open the OneDrive icon and turn off all folders to be synced in the sync settings.
Close all Clip Studio-related applications.
Try overwriting the CELSYS folder in OneDrive with the Documents folder.- Japanese

14 days agoThis explains how to disable OneDrive sync folders in detail.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwI2uzhh3jk
When you open "Manage Backups," you'll see a list of five folders: Documents, Photos, Desktop, Music, and Videos.
Folders with the switch activated will be included in OneDrive sync.
When a folder is synced, its contents will be moved to the OneDrive cloud.
The Documents folder is also included, so if the CELSYS folder is set to the old settings, it will be moved to OneDrive, causing problems.
Incidentally, OneDrive only has a default limit of 5GB.
The CLIP STUDIO PAINT settings folder is usually larger than 5GB, so you can see that it's insufficient.
Therefore,
https://support.clip-studio.com/en-us/faq/articles/20190029#c973d0d9
You can see the difference between the old and new settings by checking where your artwork backup folder is set.
In the new settings, the CELSYS folder is located in a hidden folder called AppData, so it is not under the influence of OneDrive.
If the problem persists despite the folder being in the new location, then there is a problem with the settings folder itself.- Japanese

14 days agoI got into OneDrive and while there IS a CELSYS folder in the Documents folder in OneDrive, it doesn't look like it has been syncing/updating there since 2020. On my local drive, under AppData/Roaming, there ARE folders: CELSYS, CELSYS_EN and CELSYUserData. They appear to be the ones that CSP is utilizing so I'm not sure what's going on.
Would it be worth uninstalling CSP and reinstalling it? Or copying one or all of those directories over to my Documents folder?- English
-
14 days agoThe fact that the CELSYS folder was in your OneDrive folder means that your Documents folder was being synced.
① Was the OneDrive sync folder disabled?
If not, syncing is still ongoing.
Method:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwI2uzhh3jk
② https://support.clip-studio.com/en-us/faq/articles/20190029#c973d0d9
When you opened the folder using this method, was it your Documents folder?
Or was it this one:
C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\CELSYSUserData\CELSYS
?
Both answers to ① and ② are important. Even just an answer would be helpful.
The presence of "CELSYSUserData" within AppData indicates the new folder structure, so the Documents folder is irrelevant.
The CELSYS folder in the new settings folder is located at the following location. C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\CELSYSUserData\CELSYS
Is the answer to ② supposed to be in the folder above? Is that actually the case?
>Would it be worth uninstalling CSP and reinstalling it? Or copying one or all of those directories over to my Documents folder?
Even if you uninstall CLIP STUDIO PAINT and CLIP STUDIO, the settings folder remains on your PC.
Only the CLIP STUDIO PAINT and CLIP STUDIO programs are uninstalled.
Therefore, even if you reinstall, the previous settings will be carried over.- Japanese

14 days agoIf you're okay with resetting the settings and folders to their initial blank state, knowing the answer to ② will help you identify the relevant CELSYS folder. Deleting that CELSYS folder should probably reset everything to a blank state.
Therefore, please provide answers to ① and ②.- Japanese

14 days agoOh this is so odd! :O
1. Sync was NOT disabled like I thought. Doing that now!
2. When I followed the second tutorial to open the folder where backup data is stored, it WAS in OneDrive. What do I do now? :O I know I saw an option to change the material folder location, I think but is that what I need to do?
Thank you for being so patient with me. 😅- English

14 days ago①Yes, please disable it.
②The backup folder for your artwork was OneDrive? That's different from what I expected.
This means that the parent CELSYS folder is your current settings folder, so
C:\Users\Your PC Account\Documents\CELSYS\CLIPStudioPaintData
The above folder has been taken over by OneDrive.
③C:\Users\Your PC Account\OneDrive\Documents\CELSYS\CLIPStudioPaintData
Was "CLIPStudioPaintData" located like this?
④First, close CLIP STUDIO PAINT and CLIP STUDIO.
The following steps should hopefully restore everything to normal, but please be aware that if the situation is complex, it may not be restored.
There is no guarantee that data such as materials will be recovered.
If you are concerned, it might be best to show this page to official support and ask for their advice.
https://support.clip-studio.com/en-us/contact/bug-report/
If you're unsure, go directly to official support here.
The following is the method described at:
https://tips.clip-studio.com/en-us/articles/2811
⑤ C:\Users\Your PC Account\OneDrive\Documents (Essentially the Documents folder within OneDrive)
Open the above location in Explorer and copy the "CELSYS" folder (Ctrl+C).
Open the original Documents folder in Explorer.
The location is:
C:\Users\Your PC Account\Documents
⑥ Paste the CELSYS folder you copied earlier (Ctrl+V).
If a CELSYS folder already exists, it will be overwritten.
⑦ Launch CLIP STUDIO PAINT.
⑧ If it still doesn't work, close CLIP STUDIO PAINT and then go to CLIP STUDIO > Gear icon > Maintenance menu > Rebuild material database.
If it still doesn't work, I think it's a failure, so either close all CLIP STUDIO-related files and delete the CELSYS folder to reset it, or if it's working somewhat normally, contact the official support mentioned earlier.- Japanese

14 days agoOkay so OneDrive syncing is turned off and everything is back on my computer.
HOWEVER.
Now everything is in C:\Users\Keira\Documents\CELSYS like it SHOULD be.
But in Clip Studio maintenance menu, when I click on the "open folder where backup data is" or whatever it's called, the path is this:
C:\Users\Keira\AppData\Roaming\CELSYSUserData\CELSYS\CLIPStudioPaintData
And when I check Materials Location under Settings (I attached a screenshot), it says:
C:\Users\Keira\AppData\Roaming\CELSYSUserData
All my downloads are still in my Clip Studio, they're just not auto-installing. They show up when I open Clip Studio Paint in Downloads, too, but even after turning on all the right settings, none of the downloaded assets will auto-install into ANY folder. THAT'S what I've been trying to figure out how to do.
Are my file locations still messed up?- English

14 days agoWhen I checked ② before moving the CELSYS folder from OneDrive (more precisely, before disabling OneDrive sync), it was located at:
C:\Users\Your PC Account\OneDrive\Documents\CELSYS\CLIPStudioPaintData
Now, when I check, it has changed to:
C:\Users\Your PC Account\AppData\Roaming\CELSYSUserData\CELSYS\CLIPStudioPaintData
Is that correct?
If so, I'm sorry, but I've never seen anyone in this situation before, so it's too unusual for me to understand.
C:\Users\Your PC Account\AppData\Roaming\CELSYSUserData\CELSYS
This is not a OneDrive sync folder by default, so it won't be moved to OneDrive unless someone has custom synced it.
Originally,
C:\Users\Your PC Account\AppData\Roaming\CELSYSUserData\CELSYS
If this was the original settings folder (CELSYS folder), and if this folder was also set to sync with OneDrive, then everything under this CELSYS folder will be moved to OneDrive. Therefore, once OneDrive reaches its 5GB total capacity, it may be full, and you may not be able to download any materials.
Unless you disable the setting that moves C:\Users\Your PC Account\AppData\Roaming\CELSYSUserData\CELSYS to OneDrive, the problem will likely not be resolved.
Have you made any additional settings in the OneDrive sync settings mentioned earlier?
Synced files and folders under OneDrive's control will have a distinctive mark in the lower left corner of their icon in Explorer, as shown in the image at the following link.
https://0115765.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/0715-2kdb5uza.jpg
It's likely that the following:
C:\Users\Your PC Account\Documents
This may not be relevant.
I only copied (not moved) the CELSYS folder from OneDrive, so the current contents of CLIP STUDIO should be the same as before the CELSYS folder copy.
>None of the downloaded assets will auto-install into ANY folder. THAT'S what I've been trying to figure out how to do.
Does "automatic installation" mean downloading materials from CLIP STUDIO ASSETS and then downloading them to the CLIP STUDIO PAINT materials folder?
I'm not sure if this is relevant, but have you tried this?
https://support.clip-studio.com/en-us/faq/articles/20190137
Other
CLIP STUDIO > Gear icon > Maintenance menu > Rebuild material database
CLIP STUDIO > Gear icon > Maintenance menu > Rebuild material folder
Please try these as well.
Please also be sure to perform the following two security settings.
https://support.clip-studio.com/en-us/faq/articles/20190134#8e40282f
It's highly likely that OneDrive is interfering with the download, and since this shouldn't happen unless you, for example, manually set the CELSYS folder on the AppData side to be included in OneDrive sync, I personally think this is an irregular situation.
Sync-targeted folders and files will have a unique sync mark in the lower left corner of the file, as shown in the image at the link above.
I have a general idea of what to do next, but since you don't seem to have a backup from when it was working normally, if it fails, you won't be able to recover your data. Since the situation doesn't seem to have changed, please follow the link below to access the contact form at the end and contact official support directly.

14 days agoI'm sorry, the link "Files and folders under OneDrive's control that are synced will have a distinctive mark in the lower left corner of their icon in Explorer, as shown in the image at the following link" doesn't seem to be displaying correctly. Please refer to this link, which has a similar image.
These are the synced folders and files.
Although it's in Japanese, you can understand the characteristics just by looking at the icon.

14 days agoExcuse me for interrupting mid-conversation.
>I had been using the CSP EX version for many years.
A few years ago, I replaced my PC and migrated my software.
At that time, my material palette, brushes/subtools, etc., all disappeared, and things became messed up.
Regarding this,
*Which version of CLIP STUDIO PAINT did you originally have?
If you migrated between PCs with the same OS, as explained in the previous response,
following the procedure in this FAQ, https://support.clip-studio.com/en-us/faq/articles/20190152
by "replacing (not overwriting)" the entire CELSYS folder backup, you should normally be able to migrate and transfer all settings and materials.
As stated in the FAQ, the location where the CELSYS folder is stored differs depending on whether your CLIP STUDIO PAINT version is [1.10.13 or later] or
[1.10.12 or earlier].
It's possible that the procedure itself was incorrect during the migration several years ago.
──────────────
Did you not regularly back up the entire CELSYS folder that you store in either of the above locations?
It's a good idea to back this up regularly.
This allows you to restore to the environment at that time in case something happens.
──────────────
Currently, the storage location of the CELSYS folder seems to be [1.10.13 or later].
Is the version you have [1.10.13 or later] suitable?
If you have a license that allows you to use version 5.0.4, I believe that version should be usable.
The reason for the change between version 1.10.13 and earlier is that, to prevent the CELSYS folder from being moved automatically due to OneDrive synchronization/automatic synchronization,
from version 1.10.13 onwards, it is now stored in a hidden folder within AppData.
However, if you have been using the unlimited version since Ver. 1 and have not changed the storage location to AppData,
the version will be updated while the files are still stored in the Documents folder as they were in version 1.10.12 or earlier.
It is possible that you were in this situation.
This may have caused the CELSYS folder to move automatically due to OneDrive synchronization, resulting in the inability to properly transfer materials.
──────────────
Therefore, if you can accurately provide the following information, it will be easier to restore your files:
・When and which CLIP STUDIO PAINT version you have owned,
・Whether you have updated to the current version without changing the storage location,
・Whether you have regularly backed up your CELSYS folder. If you have a backup of the CELSYS folder containing recent materials and other data on an external storage device, there is a possibility that it can be restored.- Japanese

14 days ago>I no longer have the old computer.
I overwrote the OS with Linux, so all the data is gone.
Are you still using the Linux OS?
The Linux OS is not officially supported and is not recommended for use with CLIP STUDIO PAINT, so
any problems that arise are entirely your own responsibility.
This is a complicated issue, so I think it would be best to contact official support directly.
