Sudden pencil issue

I've been using this program for a year now and I love it to death. But something odd just happened. For some reason my pencil malfunctioned and now its texture is all messed up. Everytime I try to use it goes into a completely different texture. Except on previous layers and if I try the same pencil on new layers or even page it goes back into this odd heavy, rough texture can anyone explain this? did I hit a button and not realize it?
