For Gradient tool, can we turn off the fill all black at the beginning of the tip?

So when using gradient tool, usually we have to use it with select tool and then gradient tool to avoid it fill in the whole page black at one end of the gradient.

I want the gradient tool to cut of the fill in all black in half of the gradient side. Just the part where i drag it to be gradient?

Something like a pen tool. With it specific size allowed for the pen to draw in.

    Select the gradient tool → View tool properties → [Process edge] item → Select [Do not draw (rightmost icon)]
    This will draw only the dragged area.
    However, you only need to specify the width. All vertical areas are gradations.
    Use a layer mask to erase unnecessary parts.
