Nice to meet you, I will make a suggestion.
First of all, are not you drawing the skin and flower color on the same layer as you see from the squirrel?
Even if you clip to the lower layer as it is, it will be painted together as there is no boundary with flowers.
As a countermeasure, after creating a new layer on the skin layer, draw a flower color there.
Next, create a new layer between the skin and flower layers and clip it to the lower layer to affect only the skin.
If you want to do something from the current situation, I think that you can only paint by creating a mask layer etc using the selection tool.
