Transform tool deleting layer data

Hello everyone! I really hope someone has an answer, because this is driving me absolutely crazy.

The transform tool often will replace the contents with the selection when moved, and also delete some of the layer surrounding the selection. It generally doesn't do it from the moment of the image creation. I've been testing layers before working on them since the issue is so problematic, so originally the layer was fine and then the issue cropped up. Once it does, it seems to permanently affect the layer.

If I make a new layer and try with random scribbles, it transforms fine with the same settings. This is in the same document as the layer with the issue. I've tried making a new canvas and pasting the layer in, duplicating, transferring, and restarting CSP. This has happened on multiple illustrations and I can't always just redraw the layer to get around the problem.

My version is 1.10.6, on Windows. Any advice is appreciated because drawing has been a nightmare since this started.

Sounds like you merged the " drawing" with a "white background" during the drawing process.
Turn off the [Paper] layer to show the transparency, you will see the problem.
Here's an example when you select > transform a with and without white background layer.

If you accidentally merged your drawing to a white background, you can go to Edit => Convert brightness to opacity to remove the white background ( only work well with black drawing and white background )

    Thank you for replying!

I have checked what you have described, and unfortunately did not find that there was a white background on the layer.

I do understand why it seems like that is what happened. I should clarify the layer data being deleted does not appear until after I click "ok" in the transform menu. When I'm in the process of transforming, the proper transparency and art is visible. After I press "ok" though, the pictured result is left. However there is no white space.
