Erasing vector line adjusts pattern, how do i stop this without rasterizing?

Im using a decorative brush that has a repeating pattern and im trying to erase parts of the line, but the line restarts the pattern after erasing. I don't want this and I don't know how to stop it. Any tips or solutions?

2 years agoI think the general method is to use a layer mask or paint with a transparent vector from above.
Layer masks are recommended as they are simpler and easier to fine-tune.
