When you release the shortcut key for the layer selection tool,
you will be returned from the layer you clicked to the layer you were originally on.

Until recently, I used the shortcut (temporary switching) of the layer selection tool to select layers.

At that time,
even if you turned on temporary tool switching and released the shortcut key,
you could work without being returned to the layer you clicked and being returned to the layer you were originally on.

Recently, perhaps after updating the version, this has become impossible.

Now, if you draw on the selected layer with the eraser tool while holding down the shortcut key, it will stay there, but to use other pens or selection tools, you have to release the key while clicking the mouse so that the selected layer does not return,
which is very stressful and makes it difficult to work...

The operating environment when there were no problems is as follows.

-Shortcut key: Select layer from TabMate settings (temporary switching)

I want the shortcut key setting for layer selection (temporary switching) to not return to the original layer even when the key is released.
How do I set this up?

When I was researching various things about layer selection,
I came across some Q&As that said that the default is to return to the original layer.
So was there some kind of bug when it was working without any problems...?

Another concern is that after the update,
the layer selection tool was not in the list of tools on the workspace and had disappeared.

Now I have selected "Layer Selection" from the Add button and created a new one.
Could this have something to do with the current issue?

It's interfering with my work,

The details in the gif are crushed and hard to see, but it seems like the "Layer Selection" tool you've set is wrong in the first place.
The only setting for the Layer Selection tool is "Layer not selected."
Try adding "Layer Selection" under "Operation" in "Add initial subtool" and checking how it works.

It all started when I realized that the layer selection tool had disappeared (probably because I accidentally deleted it).

- The layer selection tool had disappeared
→ Tabmate's wheel is assigned to an object
→ I thought about adding layer selection from the initial subtool, but...
→ I duplicated the object tool, searched for or selected layer selection, and accidentally added the object tool (I think that's what happened)

That's how it went.

This time, I realized how carelessly I've been using Clip Studio Paint.
I'm truly grateful for increasing the resolution. Thank you so much 🙇 ‍ ♀ ️

I'm still using version 2, but I can use layer selection in Tabmate without it being reverted to the original layer.

It's quite a troubling problem that the layer selection is reverted to the original layer...

Will it be reverted to the original position if I use "Layer Selection" from the tool instead of Tabmate?

If it doesn't revert when selected from the tool, I would like you to try assigning an unused modifier key (e.g. alt + Space) from Layer Selection in Tabmate settings, and then assigning Layer Selection to the modifier key you just set from the modifier key settings (e.g. assigning Layer Selection to alt + Space) if you have time...

I think this is the behavior when you select a layer by holding down the Ctrl key or temporarily switching the object tool.
(Click the canvas while holding down the Ctrl key to move to the layer where you want to draw → Release the key to return to the layer before you moved)

The image in the question seems to be a screenshot from last year, but what is the current setting?
Have you set the object tool or Ctrl key to long press the wheel in any of modes 1 to 4?
Please check to make sure that the mode you are running matches the mode in the settings screen.

Triumph is just showing (linking) where the questioner's comment above was referring to, but he himself denies the content, saying, "It's normal not to return to the original layer."

First of all, if you use the tabmate operation to select a layer, does the layer actually get selected? (It seems that the tool was not the "Layer Selection" tool in the first place, so layer selection was not performed.)

Have you confirmed each step of switching from the originally selected layer to the layer selected with "Layer Selection", and then switching back to the original layer?

The tool is set to the wheel click, so it may not be pressed properly, or it may move up and down when you think you pressed it, and the wheel up and down function may be executed.

Also, instead of using tabmate, try using the "Layer Selection" tool with the keyboard shortcut key Tool Shift to check if the same thing happens (returning to the layer before selection).

Another basic step is to try delaying the time you release the key. If you're doing it like an assembly line, you may end up doing it in the order "press key -> touch with pen" instead of "press key -> release key -> touch with pen."

For now, check the above to determine whether the problem is due to a problem with the software or a defective operation.

・Regarding operational issues
It's not an issue 💦 　
As you can see from the GIF below, even if you press and hold for 2-3 seconds, it will be returned.

・If you select "Layer Selection" from the tool list, it will not be returned.
・If it's a shortcut key, it will be returned with either tabmate or keyboard.
(As per Kozato4's advice, I tried assigning a modifier key, but it didn't work... 💦)
・As for the current settings, as you can see in the second image, they are the same as last year. The tool property settings are also the default settings.

As Chaya says, the only thing left to do may be to reinstall... 💦
I think that reinstalling will also require moving materials and backing them up, so I'll try to solve the problem while asking support.

I saw the gif, and as Kisa said, I think it's layer selection. Looking at the tool properties, it looks like it's set to object. As Chaya said, if you select an object, it will be restored to its original state.

The reason why pressing the wheel on Tabmate is layer selection is because the name of the object is set to layer selection, or maybe the wheel of the mode you're using is set to object and the mode you're not using is in the screenshot above...

The TABMATE has four modes: solid red, solid blue, flashing red, and flashing blue, and each can be set differently.

When you turn on the device, it will go into the solid red mode for now,
but the TABMATE settings screen should open with the settings for the mode you last opened (although it may be reset to solid red mode).
Does the current mode match the mode you checked on the settings screen?

On Windows, settings and materials will not be lost even if you uninstall Clip Studio Paint.
If you're worried, just copy the CELSYS folder to an external location and you'll be fine.

Contact support and try reinstalling it.
