Regarding the color selection for this kind of illustration (is it called a color-restricted illustration?)

Actually, I don't really know the names either, but I often see other people's illustrations online that are like this, "drawn using only 5 or 6 colors", pop...? I wanted to try it myself, so I copied what I saw, but I thought it was a little different... (see image below)
Rather than giving advice on my own illustration, since I just copied what I saw without knowing the basics, I would like to know if it's better to make "this color" and "this color" the same, or some basic tips on how to draw illustrations with this kind of color scheme in the first place. (Especially tips on the color scheme for the light in the hair...)
No matter how much I search, I can't find anything on how to draw this kind of illustration...

How about using a "gradient map" after first drawing in grayscales such as black, white, dark gray, and light gray?
Divide black to white into six levels, and then use the gradient map function to assign colors to the black with blue, the dark gray with purple, the light gray with pink, the whitish areas with yellow, and so on.
If you research gradient maps, you may find an article on how to create the style of illustration you are looking for, as well as tips.

Sorry for the late reply. There are many articles about gradient maps, but I couldn't find anything about what I wanted to know... so for now, I'll try to reduce the number of colors used in the hair for this illustration. Thank you!
