Hey there. Relatively new to the software.

So, seems like Ctrl+Left Click (not Middle or Right, Left Click) lets you move the contents of a layer. Just try it for yourself. New file, draw something, then hold down Ctrl. You'll be able to move what you drew.

... how can I disable this? It's happening too frequently as I hit Undo (among other functions that use Ctrl) while drawing, and it's getting annoying, and I can't find anything in the menus. Thanks in advance.

Oh, thanks! But it wasn't as a Common Setting, but tool specific instead. Weird, why would something like this be on by default, it disrupts more than it helps. Still, thanks, problem solved!

It's default behavior for Photoshop as well as far as I recall.

You can set it up however you want, I actually love shortcut and modifier settings and that was one of the reasons I switched to CSP.
It makes me work much faster by invoking commands and tools without clicking too much around.
My CTRL is set to lasso tool, for example, I pick color with middle (regular) and right click (pick top layer color), and change brush size while holding ALT and dragging the cursor.
I use SPace, ALT,CTRL and SHIFT and their combinations to move,pan,zoom and rotate the canvas so my fingers are always in one position over the keyboard.

Customization of the shortcuts in CSP is great.
Modifiers can be super powerful and effective if you take time and set it up for each tool you use.
I don't think you can turn those off or change them in PS.

Oh, I agree, and I've already done a few things like using the hand tool with middle-click and the Right-click for the eyedropper.

Thing, is, for CSP this "Move Layer" thing is for some reason called "Object" while there's a dedicated Move tool called indeed "Move", so at first glance that definitely doesn't seem to be it. One of those things that have potential, but the default config doesn't leave the best of impressions, I guess. XD

Object tool is like a more powerful "layer move" tool.
You would use it to move layers , 3d objects , bones , transform text , edit and transform vector layers , rulers, comic panels (CV/control points), texture layers,
access special layer and object properties ( displayed in the tool property panel) etc.

Regular Move layer can't do those operations.
Sometimes it's necessary to use object tool to access those special layer/object properties.
