Selection is not showing after merging layers

After merging the layers, if I hold ctrl and click on the thumbnail and select an area, the dotted line of the merged layer is not displayed.
Also, if you draw a line on a new layer after selecting an area, the previous opacity of the area is applied even though the opacity of the new layer is 100.
I want to repaint that area with an opacity of 100
how do i solve it?
