When outputting animation cells, the output range cannot be selected as [Selection range]

The question is as the title says.
When outputting animation cells, I can't set the output range to "selection range."
What could be the cause of this problem?
In the selection range column of the output options, only "Entire" and "Drawing frame" are displayed, and they are not even available as options. It does not appear whether the part I want to output is selected or not.
Also, if I output the entire image, I can export it without any problems.
I am using Windows 11, Clip Studio EX, ver. 3.
I apologize for this being a basic question, but I would appreciate your advice.

There seems to be a fundamental misunderstanding.
There's no "such problem" what you call a "selection range" output function as an item in the animation output.

If you force it to be output as a "cut range",
1) First, save the original animation canvas.
2) Next, after setting the selection range, execute "Fit canvas size to selection range" from the Edit menu.
3) Then, execute animation cell output.

If there are no problems, executing "Undo" from the Edit menu immediately after outputting may return you to the original canvas.
(The above "1) First, save the original animation canvas" is just a safeguard.)

I see. In the CLIP STUDIO user guide, it seems that it is possible to output a selection range by going to the [File] menu → [Export animation] → [Sequential images] (however, this is a method of exporting all frames, so it is excluded as a method of outputting only the original image), so I mistakenly thought that it was possible to do it with cell output...

For example, if you want to draw a large-format image in cell A, but the image in cell B is almost entirely within the basic frame, you want to select only cell B and output it at a small size. In such cases, do people who use the animation function output everything in large format, or do they force the output using the procedure that the answerer taught them? This is a practical question that deviates from the original question, so if it is difficult to answer, please ignore it.

It is customary to export all of those scenes in "large format."

For example, what do you use as a basis for aligning data of different sizes?

In commercial animation, standard size, large size, and long cels are all aligned based on "tap."

I think you are familiar with working with animation functions, so can I ask a few more questions?

To add a premise, this is a question for when only I (L/O, key animation) do the digital work, and then the work is output on paper and the director and animation director work on analog.
Of course, the tap position is aligned. If all processes from layout to finishing are done digitally, I think it's fine to output in large format, but considering that the production will output on paper after this, wouldn't it be less work for the production side if things that fit within the basic frame were submitted at the size of the basic frame? I thought. (It seems that in the case of productions who are not familiar with it, things submitted in large format may be printed in large format, and I think it is inefficient to send unnecessary large paper to the animation director.)

Is it common to output the key animation in "all large format" without considering such hassle?

I say "usually," but it depends on the "content of the picture."
Basically, tap holes are essential, so I think the layout is designed with the "least wasteful tap positions" in mind at the early stages.
In recent years, large formats are mostly limited to A3 (Nobi) size or smaller due to scanners. (Unless it's high-resolution, special paper drawings like theatrical releases)
I think A3 size can be managed with a consumer printer or multifunction copier. Anything larger than that would normally be rejected.
I think it's free size if digital delivery is possible depending on the work part.

Even though digitalization is progressing, I hear that there are some productions that force animators to change the taps on paper during the transition period.
(They can't deal with animators who are looking for individual work 💦)

I see. From what you've said, it seems like as long as it's within the A3 size range, it's best to print everything in large format even if it contains smaller images, and since most of the time it fits within A3, that's the norm. If it's going to be significantly larger, it's probably best to check with the production company.
Digitalization has really advanced compared to a few years ago, but it's still mixed with analog work, which causes unnecessary work on site...
