How do I update my iPad with a downloaded .pkg file?

I don’t have a clue how to update my iPad with the .pkg file being pushed to me as an update I should make. It looks like I’m up to date for this app on the App Store. Help, please. (I realize this is a “bad example” of a question I should put on here, reading the examples. But I don’t know what I don’t know.)
