I want to save a gray file in gray

I loaded a gray image file, and changed the "Basic expression color" to gray in the edit "Change basic canvas settings" menu.
When I save the image, it always ends up being saved in color.
How can I save it in gray while keeping the original gray file?

This is an EX feature, so it can't be done at grades below PRO. In that case, please export each image one by one.
If it will take a long time to make corrections, it may be safer to save the work in clip format and proceed.

The reason you can't save in gray is that in Photoshop, you can change it to gray and save it as gray,
but in Clip Studio Paint, the default color management is RGB, so the only way is to export it as gray.

When saving, select File → Save a copy → clip (top).

If you want to make it a single image, select File → Merge images and export. At that point, select gray as the expression color in the export settings window that appears.

When I used the "save a copy" method, it was indeed saved in color.
When I used the "merge images and export" method, it was saved in gray as I expected.
But it's a lot of work.
That's because I edit quite a lot of files, and I wish there was a simpler method.

I checked it in my local environment, and when I loaded a grayscale PSD file into CLIP STUDIO PAINT, set Page Management > Basic Work Management > Basic Expression Color to "gray," and worked on everything in a "gray" layer (note: if you create a new "color" layer here, it will become an RGB color file), and saved it in PSD format, it seemed to remain grayscale even when reopened in Photoshop.
Why not try creating an action that changes the basic expression color of the work to "gray" with a single button click immediately after opening the image in CLIP STUDIO PAINT?

I scanned a 30-year-old handwritten gray document and saved it as a gray TIFF file.
There are about 60 of these files, and I read each one in CLIP STUDIO and use a pen tablet to correct faint characters and remove dirt, but when I save the file as the same TIFF file, it becomes color.
Nekopi's answer, "When saving a copy, select gray as the expression color," does not offer the option to select gray when saving in the first place.
I don't know if Sawaka's first answer is effective in my case.
I tried Sawaka's second method first, but it didn't work.
So, for now, I can only save in gray using nino88's "Merge and export" method.
Editing fonts is extremely simple, but it's a ridiculously time-consuming task, and I want the final save to be as easy as possible.

Since there was no information about TIFF, I thought it was PSD.
If there is little information to judge, an appropriate answer will not be given.
If it is TIFF, the correct thing to do is to export it in gray.

It is certainly troublesome to have 60 pages, so the easiest way is to create a new 60-page multi-page file (all comic settings) with the same settings as the TIFF resolution and canvas size (manuscript paper settings are turned off).
With thumbnails of all 60 pages visible, select [File] menu → [Import] → [Import all] → A dialog box for selecting files will be displayed. Select and import all the TIFF files you want to convert (each page will be imported one by one).
[File] menu → [Multiple Pages] → [Export all], set TIFF grayscale and export.

If your Clip Studio Paint grade is EX, then 60 pages will be stored as one data item in the management file (think of it as one serialized manga series),
so if you use this function, you can use "bulk export" to export 60 pages with one command.
The attached image shows an example of creating a management file with 8 pages.
This function is only available in EX, so if you have a lower grade, you will have to do it page by page.

I think you can understand that the answers given by necopi and nino88 are the same.
Assuming that it takes about two days for each file to edit the 60 files, I plan to spend about four to six months to six months to do it.
I'm not sure what it means to load 60 files at once and work on them at once, but is it possible to load them all at once and then spend six months working on them?
By the way, when I look at the version information for my current CLIP STUDIO, I can't find the word "EX", and when I open the file menu, there is no "load all" or "export all".
I'm sad about that.
